Medical forensics involves many aspects of health science instruction including laboratory skills and safety, microscopy, toxicology, measurement, physical evidence identification, pathology, anthropology, entomology, psychology, blood splatter analysis, and career exploration.

• Introduction to Health Sciences

Introduction to Health Sciences is a semester long class designed to create an awareness of career possibilities in health care and inform students of the educational options available for health sciences and health technology programs. The course can be used as credit towards CTE graduation requirements. Instruction includes beginning anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical ethics, diseases and disorders.

Bike Shop

1. The intention of the SLCSE Bike Shop two fold.  First, Access to a safe and reliable class set of bikes opens a wide variety of learning experiences. Teachers can plan and manage riding field trips for either educational or experiential learning; there are many educational opportunities near SLCSE including parks, educational outreach, and data collection.
2. Second, SLCSE offers Bike Shop as a scheduled elective.  Bike Shop students learn bicycle repair and maintenance, shop and tool safety, and riding skills.  Bicycle repair and maintenance is taught "hands on" in a shop setting where students learn skills through bicycle repair. Group rides happen weekly with a focus on riding confidence and road safety.

• Medical Anatomy & Physiology

Medical Anatomy and Physiology (MAP) considers the interrelationships between structure of the human body, the function of these structures, and the biological processes that are essential for proper function of the human body. Students will participate in a variety of lab activities and dissections to provide a hands-on, student-centered, active learning experience. Class discussions, lectures, projects, and readings will also be employed to provide a rigorous, engaging learning experience. This course will provide an excellent foundation of knowledge for students interested in learning about how the human body functions.​
